Visions of Victoria

#55

of her students absorbing the corporate glorious
the art of education sports a ghastly glimmer of a glowing picture
roomfuls of gentile goons featured in caps & capture
where they march into war against change
holding forth in a zoo chamber confined to an institution
distinctly to scold artists scientists preachers
& everyone but the victorious
arranged with truth to discover right where to lock the questions
by relatively transforming intelligence designed enthusiastically
precariously, relaxing mentors edge nearer to study it closely
into their midst a turtle dove with a white sash drops, and a key..

..stretching toward her flowing bright
her success their loyalties
whistling spirits drapery white
submit themselves - she breaks their knees
vacuum drawn collapsing light
to her mistresses bows he
gestures mesh their plumes of flesh
thirteen men stretched concretely..

¶Victoria, she stands id'ly by
Her animals we bid adieu
She rakes the heart, the inner eye
Says back across that line she drew

¶To celebrated burning venues
Some turn back from you, O, Christ
'Cross that border line we flew
To turn to salt turn to her twice

¶Be long not near Victoria here
Behind lies writhing residue
Beyond her sulfur statues dear
The end in sight a chosen few

¶Ahead of time, the border line
Drawn behind a lowly mind
Don't bow down, don't look back
Old we lose, new we find..

..Rolled up by a Shelby
the marching band adores
Full exhaustion revs up rolling
up more higher scores
Cobra engine throbbing coils
Header flaming holy ground
Spins the blinding vision gassed
past her flashing royal crown..

¶August 15, 2010, denverpost.com :

"As many fans observed in many different ways, Tebow plays football religiously."

¶USA Today, 11/10/2009:
"Higher education is in crisis, staggered by a depressed economy that has
shrunk state appropriations, endowments and overall institutional budgets. The
[Univ. of California] Berkeley campus has taken a near $150 million cut in state
funding and is laying off faculty and staff, imposing furloughs, cutting back new
enrollment and paring course offerings while hiking students' tuition.
Most sports programs, though, spend on. Starting with football coaches'
salaries.."

Revelation 8 *

the caviar of kansas, sweet nuts upon the plate
the ministry of russia, head bangin', would not wait
we prate in boots and bonnets wantin' guns cuz we're irate
the children of the world eat dust while you all celebrate
and the breeze has an incense from the Throne
do ya smell that burnin' incense from the Throne?

the royals just got buried still it is not july six
this spring the duke got married 'bout the first time he was kissed
our armies aim at libya about a hundred GI drones
the pope prays moral rectitude on ev'ry hellfire flown
in the breezes with th' incense from the Throne
can't ya smell that burnin' incense from the Throne?

pure winter red in piles on asphalt, gravel, and the grass
the price is several cents per bushel under kenya's cold hard cash
the kenyans text the chinese 'we are dyin' - get here fast!'
will the chinese buy up tons of wheat tell kenya 'kiss my ass'?

now the western world is cooking up another god to seek
but, usama, God still loves you who would turn the other cheek
then to ash reduce this empire burn down babylon this week--
commodities on fire hot as hades as we speak
can't ya smell that burnin' incense from the Throne?

refrain
don't ya smell that burnin' incense from the Throne?
do ya smell that golden censer in God's home?
can't ya smell that burnin' incense from the Throne?
some angels at His alter hear us groan..
