From the Halls of Montezuma

no tears now the golden rule
Mom walks off leaves me at school
five years old ahead half full
summer's gone around the pool

smart legs crossed her mind so quick
reading writing arithmetic
that's my teacher's three-leg stool
three legs stand don't sit down fool

raise the flag on Mars with pride
give your mom a rocket ride
load this box with US tools
blast off astronauts from schools

parent-teacher-master plan
maniacs surround Ringo
just say no! 'you're liberal, man'
i say yes, you say no

ten years after three R's rock
Viet Nam around the clock
four R's five let's rock and roll
we for whom the big bells toll

nervously their footholds grow
yellow foot prints two boots go
next stop boys the barber shop
hair's for hippies shave that mop

eighteen years and eighteen weeks
God your parents TV geeks
teachers taught you all you knew
now you're mine - the chosen few

marching my men mean machines
astronauts aren't weak Marines
spread this war paint be a spook
aim this rifle at that gook

rest it on your three-leg stool
elbows chin then squeeze don't pull
squeeze that trigger when you're calm
blow damn gooks to kingdom come

no tears now the golden rule
momma took you boys to school
years ago your heads grew full
summers gone around the pool
